Reiki’s Ability To Assist In Healing

I have been practicing and teaching Reiki for nearly 25 years. It has changed my life in many ways for the better. I have had interesting healing experiences and believe in the power of Reiki. One of the most interesting experiences involved my dear friend and student who has suffered with Fibromyalgia (chronic fatigue).

When she approached me about teaching her Reiki, she never expected that it would help her Fibromyalgia. She found as she practiced Reiki her symptoms of pain and fatigue started to disappear. Occasionally, it will reappear but not to the depth and degree as it had in the past. She credits this healing process to Reiki.

She also does not end her Reiki sessions as most of us might do. She places a dome around her with an opening. When she is finished with her session, she does not clap or wash her hands ending the session. She allows the Reiki to continue to flow openly throughout her day. As time went on, she noticed her hands would become very warm from time to time. She realized that it was flowing stronger because she needed it. If convenient, she would stop what she was doing and do a short self-healing session.

To demonstrate how strong this works for her, one day she closed the opening to the imaginary dome and did not let Reiki flow openly throughout the day. She found herself becoming fatigued and physically drained. It got to the point that she had to lay down. After that episode, she decided she would always let Reiki flow freely. I decided to try this for myself. I found quickly that it did no work for me. It showed me that we have to be willing to try different approaches to find what is meant for us individually.

Reiki’s Ability To Assist In Healing

My friend also has the ability to see colors. The color arrives the minute she begins her Reiki session. It is not always the same color. She combines her gifts to help in her daily healing. I have encouraged her to pursue learning more about colors and the chakras. The color I see in all aspects of my life is purple. It is considered a very healing color.

I have arthritis in my hands. I do Reiki every day for about five to ten minutes on my hands. It does not have to be a long session and can be for a specific area only. What is amazing to me is that I do not have any pain in my hands. Reiki has not healed my arthritis, but I feel it has contributed to it being manageable.

Another example of letting Reiki help with an aliment is the treatment of my eyes. Without getting into the details, I have had four eye surgeries. I did a Reiki session on me before each surgery and added Reiki to the surgical room before the procedure began. The doctors and nurses allowed me to do this before they started. I credit my eyes healing with the combination of medical and Reiki.

My eye doctor was skeptical about my daily Reiki healing sessions. That did not discourage me. At a recent visit, he said, “I will do what I am doing and you do what you do.” It made me happy that he might be finally acknowledging Reiki – a little. My approach is simple, I do not need to know how it is working or even if it is working. For me it can only be an asset. As I have said more than once, Reiki can do no harm.

Whether you suffer from Fibromyalgia, arthritis, physical ailments, or any other disease be open and willing to add Reiki to your healing program. Reiki’s energy flows to where it is needed in the body in addition to where you might like it to flow.

When we open up ourselves to all with the use of Reiki, anything is possible. It allows us to work with our uniqueness in finding exactly what will work for us. My hope is that you will be willing to experiment and learn what that might be for you. We have nothing to lose and all to gain.
